The old way of making brose in my day was just the meal and salt making sure the water was still boiling.
The young billies had a saying that it was five speens o meal and (Saxa) salt.
Brilliant
Hello Jill, I am just delighted to hear the dialect being spoken, it makes me feel so happy. Doric is such a rich language with such expressive words that you don’t find in English. Hilda
My Mum used to say when she was really tired that she was fare ferfaughen. Does anybody else use this phrase or is it something that is particular to the Moray coast?
Hilda , I think it could be a word that is used further up the coast! Lovely word!

Hi Ethel, your mum was a delight to interview, her association with the fishing and her knitting is an inspiration. I have a back log of videos to edit, I beaver away as much as I can. I will get in touch when completed. Jill
