Ruth McEvilly and her husband Ged have built up the Compass Rose Studio, Longside near Peterhead over many years. Ruth formally a designer at the former Peterhead Kirkburn Woollen Mill, took the initiative to salvage the remnants of the tweed from the mill and started re-creating the fabric into craft articles. The inspiring story of the former tweed mill which sold its tweed all over the world is kept alive by Ruth, as she passes on how the fabric that was woven in the mill was inspired and promotes the colours of Scotland. Ged her husband provides another creative outlet with his recycling project. Compass Rose is also about sustainability, a delight to see how the environment around the studio has been brought back to how it used to be, plants and nature as one.
